This Friday afternoon, we're back to what should be our regular time and place for the rest of semester, and bringing you a screening of a Spanish-French melodrama-comedy from one of the masters of our time, Pedro Almodóvar's: All About My Mother! Feel free to bring your own along.
When: 3:00pm, Friday March 14
Where: Interactive Cinema Space, Room 353, Arts West - North Wing (Building 148a)
Free: PIZZA and DRINKS before the film! 🍕🥤
Winning Almodóvar the Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, and winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, it follows a bereaved woman, Manuela, who returns to Barcelona from Madrid after a car accident in search of her former lover and son Esteban's other mother, Lola, a transgender woman. Along the way, she meets female friends old and new, in a weaving tale all about femininity and maternalism. Content warning: there are some heavy themes addressed in this one, including sexual violence, transphobia, homophobia, and drug use, though the film itself is not hard to watch. If you have any questions or concerns, send us a message.
After the movie, we'll also head to the pub once again for discussion and drinks. 🍻
